Artemis Privacy Policy

Artemis is a cycle-tracking app built and operated by Taylor Haaff ("we," "us," or "Artemis"). This policy describes what data Artemis handles, where that data lives, and what control you have over it.

The short version: Artemis stores your data on your device and in your own iCloud account. We don't run servers that touch your data. We don't sell it, ship it to third parties, or use it for advertising. The only people who can see your cycle data are you and — if you explicitly invite them — a partner you choose.

1. Information we handle

Artemis works with the following categories of information. All of it stays on your device or in your personal iCloud account unless you take an explicit action to share it.

Health and fitness data

• Menstrual flow data — start and end dates of periods, flow level, symptoms, and optional notes
• Wrist temperature — read from Apple Health, originating from your Apple Watch's overnight sleeping wrist temperature sensor
• Derived cycle insights — smoothed temperature series, detected ovulation day, fertile window dates, and current cycle phase, computed on your device from the data above

Period entries you log in Artemis are written to Apple Health. Wrist temperature data is read from Apple Health; Artemis does not store raw HealthKit samples — only the smoothed temperature series and derived predictions, in your iCloud private database.

iCloud and partner-sharing data

• Apple ID identifier — used by Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services to sync your data between your own devices and, when you opt in, with a partner you invite. Artemis itself does not see, store, or transmit your Apple ID; this is handled by Apple's CloudKit framework.
• Partner display name — only collected if you invite a partner. The name visible on your partner's device is whatever Apple's iCloud sharing surface exposes; Artemis does not ask you to enter your or your partner's name separately.

Settings and preferences

• App preferences such as pregnancy intent (avoiding/trying), notification preferences, partner visibility tier, and appearance mode (light/dark/system). Stored locally on your device and synced to your iCloud private database.
