Quick start

You'll need:

The first time you open Artemis:

  1. Tap through the three-screen intro
  2. Grant Apple Health permission to read wrist temperature and read/write menstrual flow
  3. Log your most recent period if you can remember it — this anchors the cycle math
  4. Wear your Watch to sleep that night, and the night after that

About 30 nights of sleep wear is when the algorithm has enough signal to call ovulation and a fertile window with confidence. Until then, the Today screen will say something honest like "Gathering temperature data." We won't pretend to know more than we do.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Artemis need an Apple Watch Series 8 or later?

Wrist temperature is the entire reason this app exists. The temperature sensor lives in Series 8 and newer Watches (and both Ultras). Earlier Watches don't have the hardware, full stop — there's no software workaround. You can still log periods and view your cycle history without a Watch, but the ovulation detection and fertile window predictions need wrist temperature data.

Why don't I see ovulation or a fertile window yet?

You probably need more nights of Watch wear. The biphasic detection algorithm needs at least one full cycle of overnight data — roughly 25–35 nights, ideally with the Watch worn each night. Gaps are okay; the algorithm handles them gracefully. But three nights of data isn't enough for any honest prediction.
